MEET THE TEAM

Vicky Palmer

Director & Coaching Lead

Vicky started her netball journey aged 9 first at school before her talent was recognised and club netball called. Finding her position as a Shooter she working hard to hone her skills at a number of levels in the North, eventually experiencing netball at the highest level from the age of 16 years old when she proudly represented England at U17, U19 and U21 levels. This ran alongside Vicky qualifying as a Level 2 Coach at the age of 18. She has also represented a number of renowned Netball Super League franchises in the North, Yorkshire and Manchester over a career that spanned 15 years.

In 2015 she had the privilege of being an Assistant Coach with the Yorkshire Jets, working alongside Anna Carter and Maggie Birkenshaw for a number of seasons, gaining invaluable experience. This led to Vicky taking the Lead Coaching role of the Leeds Rhinos U13 & U15 pathway academies in 2018.

After taking some time to reflect on what her next venture would be within the sport she loves Netball 4 All was born.

Kym Boothroyd

Coach
Hi, i’m Kym and my netball journey started at 11 years of age playing for my school team. I was hooked!  I progressed with brilliant coaching and support to county level and was very proud to represent Yorkshire during my teenage years.  Moving to the Harrogate District in 1993 I joined a local netball team, playing with them for 30 years and making friends for life! In that time, I was a level 1 coach, vice-captain, treasurer and mentor for the youngsters coming through. It is an honour to be able to be part of this netball journey.   Oh and I’m still playing socially!!

Fun fact: – I trained to be a football referee

Away from netball I love spending time with my family and visiting my favourite place – The Lake District.

Chocolate or Liquorice??? – Liquorice of course!!!

Lisa Riddler

Coach
Hi, I’m Lisa. I am a level 2 coach. I started my netball journey aged 10 at primary school. I immediately loved it and joined a local club where I played until I went to University. I played at County and Regional level at u16 and u18 and had the privilege of trialling for England twice.

As an adult I have travelled around a little and netball has allowed me to join communities and make lasting friendships along the way. I played for an amazing club in North Wales and for some brilliant teams in Dubai. I also had the privilege of playing for Dubai in 2010 playing with netballers from all around the globe.
I moved into coaching when I started a family in 2011, coaching u12 teams in private international schools in Dubai and Jeju, South Korea.

I returned to the UK, with my family, in 2022 and myself, and my 2 daughters, have all found a home in netball clubs in the area.

Netball is about friendships and fun! It is a pleasure to be part of the Netball 4 All coaching team and to have the opportunity to support young players as they start their journey.

Ruth Thompson

Coach
Hi, i’m Ruth and I have been playing and coaching netball for many many years. Having played netball at school and college, I qualified as a primary school teacher with a special interest in sport. I soon realised that I derived as much pleasure from coaching as playing, and I enjoy nothing more than seeing the progress a player makes on their netball journey- whether they are 5 years old or 50!

My passion for the sport has extended to my daughter, who has played in the Netball Performance League, at international level, and she continues to play Premier league netball. I wish that I had an ounce of her talent for playing! But her determination and success has come from early exposure to the sport and a commitment to training. Above all, she loves playing and THAT I do share!

I have a level 2 Netball Coaching qualification and have coached and umpired all age levels in this sport. My ethos is that “Netball is For All”, regardless of age and ability. The pleasure gained from playing as part of a team, the growth in confidence and skill of an individual and the undoubted benefits of health and exercise make this a fab game for all.

Ellen Cowell

Coach - York

Hi, I’m Ellen. I first started playing netball at primary school and joined my local club which I played at for a number of years. As I got older, I continued to play for school and moved clubs so I could play at regional level. I have continued playing throughout my education and currently play for York St John University first team whilst studying primary education.

The coaches I’ve had over the years have all positively contributed to my netball journey and shared the love that I now have for the game. These coaches inspired me to earn my Level 1 Netball Coaching Qualification and as a coach I hope I can also pass on this passion to the next generation of children.

The thing I love most about netball is the friendship it gives you and all the memories you make. Without netball, my life would be nowhere near as fun! Having the opportunity to coach and make memories for children is a huge privilege and I cannot wait to continue my coaching journey and spread my love for the sport!

Fun fact –  I’m a keen dancer taking part in numerous exams, dance shows and pantomimes over the years. My favourite style is tap dancing!

Claudia Edwards

Assistant Coach - Boroughbridge
Hi I’m Claudia,
I discovered my passion for netball just a few years ago, and in that short time, I’ve developed a deep understanding of the game.

My dedication and love for the game has led me to be selected for Leeds Rhinos at both U17 and U19 levels —an experience that has been invaluable in shaping me as a player.

Being coached by some of the best at both Leeds Rhinos and Queen Ethelburgas has inspired me to share my knowledge and help develop the next generation of players.

I’m currently working towards my Level 1 coaching qualification, and I’m excited about sharing what I have learnt to help others build their confidence and love for netball!

Netball is a huge part of my life— training almost everyday, and my passion for the game only continues to grow!

Jack Andrews

Assistant Coach - York

Hi, I’m Jack. I’m very much new to netball with my background being in football coaching and teaching. However, both my girls, Cora and Rose, started at Netball 4 All at Poppleton in Spring 2024 and I’ve been helping coach ever since.

Fun fact – I enjoy the sessions more than the kids or maybe I’m just a big kid!

Ellie Adrian Horrocks

Coach - Harrogate
Hi I’m Ellie, I started playing netball when I was 10 and have loved it ever since. I play for Leeds Athletic in the West Yorkshire and Regional leagues, enjoying every well-contested match with my team.

I’ve experienced many coaching styles and taken positives from all. As a coach/athlete I have found that having fun whilst working hard is the key to playing and learning to your full potential. I hope I can see my coaching bring many smiles to the court and encourage a life long love for the sport.

Fun fact- I can plait hair better than my hairdresser (according to him).

Joanne Gregson

Assistant Coach - Harrogate
Hi! I’m excited to be part of the coaching team at Netball 4 All as a parent helper and assistant coach. Netball has been a huge part of my life since primary school, and my passion for the sport led me to train at a high level – I even aspired to play for England, though I never quite made it! I had the privilege of captaining Leeds University’s first team and representing English Universities at the British University Games, and I still love playing in local leagues today.
One of the things I treasure most about netball is that there’s always been a place for me in the sport, whether playing competitively or returning to sport after having my children. Fun fact: I actually played alongside our head coach Vicky for many years when we were kids!
Now, as a mum, I’m thrilled that my daughter shares my love for netball through Netball 4 All. While I’m new to coaching, I’m passionate about supporting young players as they discover Netball.
Looking forward to meeting you on court!
